ESH-ULg: Arrangements related to the ESH-ULg status

Students Living with Disabilities can benefit from various advantages:

Possible to stagger years of study

ESH-ULg students may stagger their year of study over two years, at any time, as long as they have discussed this in advance with the Faculty and the ASH service.

The programme is set by the student and his or her tutor, in agreement with the jury or the relevant Study Council. If necessary, the staggered plan may be reviewed up to the examination session (e.g. staggered plan could be cancelled if the student realises that he or she can sit all his or her exams; presentation of a few additional exams if this is possible, etc.).

Specific modalities relating to teaching, evaluation and exams

Through the academic tutor and/or the ASH service and depending on operational possibilities, ESH-ULg students may be able to benefit from the following in relation to their disability;

  • arrangement of teaching activities (e.g. laboratory, seminars, date for submitting work);
  • organisation of premises where courses and other teaching activities are conducted (e.g. accessibility of premises, specific equipment related to the disability, etc.)
  • organising modalities for assessments and exams (e.g. changing a written exam into an oral one or vice versa, additional time, etc.).

Individual support and monitoring by the ASH service.

The service can help with administrative management of the file: submission of the request, building the file, etc. The service ensures that ESH-ULg students are supported and have individual supervision throughout the year depending on their needs and requests. ESH-ULg students are supported by ASH in their integration into the university in order to enable them to achieve their course objectives under the best conditions. The ASH service is the first point of contact for ESH-ULg students and acts as a liaison between them and their tutors.

Support from a Faculty academic tutor

The academic tutor, in close collaboration with the ASH service, works within the section/Department to help ESH-ULg students to achieve their objectives.

Priority supervision from the 'Guidance' department

As far as is possible, ESH-ULg students who wish to may benefit from priority access to and support from the Guidance department

Priority access to the 'University Orientation' service.
