Mid-programme or mid-year admission (EU)

Admission of students that are citizens of Member States of the European Union (outside Belgium) during first-cycle or second-cycle studies

If you are currently enrolled in courses in an institution of higher learning recognised by the European Union and you wish to continue your studies at the University of Liège.

You may be asking yourself, "At what level will I be admitted.

In most cases your prior studies will be recognised and all your credits will transfer; you will be able to begin work at the same level you were at in your home country.

Nonetheless it is possible that the number of classroom hours, the content of the instruction, or the measurement of results should be considered different enough from those current in Belgium that only partial recognition is granted by the jury.

We invite you to submit an application form online so that you can learn the exact conditions under which you can be admitted.

The file, which must be submitted before August 31, must contain the following documents:

  • a printed version of the application form online duly filled out and signed
  • a copy of your identity card
  • a copy of your diploma attesting successful completion of secondary studies (C.E.S.S.)
  • a certified copy of your diploma higher education institution (including notarised translations, if necessary)
  • a copy of grade reports for each one of your years of higher education, even for failed years (including notarised translations, if necessary).
  • official documentation of your activities or studies over the last five years, if they are not accounted for by your most recent diploma
  • a dissertation or thesis project description
  • a motivation letter

In case of admission to "1st cycle" (bachelor's):

You will be obliged to produce evidence of a judgment of equivalency between your diploma, issued at the end of secondary studies, and the Belgian secondary diploma (C.E.S.S.). This attestation can be requested from the French-speaking Community by July 15 for the academic year in which registration is to occur.

Further, if any of your diplomas were granted by schools in which the language of instruction was not French, you must successfully pass an examination to demonstrate your mastery of the French language before your first regular examination period as a student at the university.

Please note :

With regard to certain subject areas, there are restrictions on admission to first-cycle studies . This is the case with veterinary medicine, physiotherapy and rehabilitation and engineering sciences.

For medicine and dental sciences, the limitation (numerus clausus) does not take effect at the beginning of studies, but at the end of the first year of the bachelor's programme.

This measure is suspended.
