Entering a Master’s programme after receiving a Higher Education diploma

The University of Liège offers you a wide selection of advanced-level Master's programmes, many of them exclusive to the University.

Besides Master's programmes that take one year (60 credits), you can opt for a Master's in two years (120 credits), choosing a programme with an additional "certification" (emphasis on teaching, research or a specialization).

  • Emphasis on teaching: your programme prepares you to teach.
  • Emphasis on research: your programme prepares you to do research in your field.
  • Emphasis on a profession: your programme prepares you for a specific occupational specialization.

In 2006, the French-speaking Community wrote laws that established the University admissions requirements for people who held diplomas from a non-university institution of higher learning: the "passerelles" (transition) regulations. These regulations control the equivalency of non-university programmes and the transition from a non-university programme into a university programme (1).
