Institute for Human and Social Sciences - Labour sciences

Analysing and taking part in the world of work

The master's in Labour sciences (1 or 2 years) are aimed at students who wish to be oriented towards analysis or intervention in social politics and/or problems related to work and employment. Although aimed at the bachelor's students of the university, these programmes are also aimed at bachelor's students of teaching outside the university as well as professionals and field activists to complete their basic training.

Put together from reading seminars, courses and practical work, the master's are rooted in concrete problems and lean towards personal and practical experience. They aim to develop the skills required to formulate a diagnostic from questions or problems relating to work and, more globally, to social policies :

-    critical awareness and analytical skills
-    identification and conceptualisation of social problems
-    development of a diagnostic and intervention perspectives
-    group activities, meetings
-    project development

3 masters

Professional management of work positions

This one-year out of hours master, is primarily meant for professionals and for students who already have some professional experience, and who wish to perfect their basic education.

It calls upon your personal and practical experience. The "conversion" master's par excellence is accessible to each short-type graduate pending success in the entrance exam1.

In order to place the programme in real-world situations, seminars on professional pratices and initiation to personal research are organised. A final project is also required.

(1) This master can be eligible for the federal employment service's paid training/vacation programme, under certain conditions. For more information, visit www.emploi.belgique.be or our Registration service.

Project management and analysis of social policies

This two-year master's with a Professional Focus is a day course and is aimed at students wishing to be oriented toward analysis or intervention in social policies and/or problems relating to work and employment. Aimed at bachelor's university students, this programme is also accessible to bachelors in higher non-university teaching as well as to professionals and field operators wishing to complete their basic training in two study-years.

In order to put you in contact with the professional world, the programme includes an internship for each year (totalling 21 credits). This is the opportunity for you to get acquainted with various professions and work contexts (within companies, public institutions, associations, social services, non-profit organisations, expert and consultant's offices, etc.). This master also requires a final project.

Master programme with Pluridisciplinary Professional Focus in creative Projects

The specialisation, offered in no other French-speaking Belgian university and based on the ID-Campus project, is offered through the ULg's various masters since September, 2012.

Creativity, at the heart of revival in our societies

Creativity has now become an essential means to meet the challenges of a world that is ever more volatile, evolving and uncertain. For an organisation, the ability to overcome obstacles, react to market changes and seize opportunities results in the adoption of a generally innovative perspective (products, services, business models, processes).

Enabling a creative state of mind

All people have creative abilities : the creative process can be taught and developed. Beyond individual creativity, there is also the question of group creativity and how to manage such groups.

Pluridisciplinarity, a fertile ground for creativity

These challenges also require teamwork or the successful completion of a project based on the interaction of people with different skills and levels of experience.

Programme

For you, this focus involves a post-master : you must hold a master's degree in order to qualify for this programme. Its three components are as follows :

  • one common programme students of all branches, aiming at teaching skills related to the management of creative projects
  • projects split into three phases
  • optional classes chosen among a pool of classes offered by all faculties or partner higher schools

Upon registering, you also choose two subjects among five offered, ensuring that you work on projects whose components are strongly related to your two subjects of choice.
