As you can see in the following list, the numerous courses available at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters cover a wide range of knowledge: philosophy, languages, literature from all horizons (French, Romance, modern, Germanic, ancient, classical, oriental), linguistics, Translation and Interpreting, history, history of art and archaeology, musicology, archaeometry, information and communication, performing arts. The faculty's already rich offering was recently completed with translation and interpretation, in partnership with the Haute Ecole de la Ville de Liège and the University of Mons. The faculty provides its students with an incredible variety of points of view on yesterday's world as well as today's. Historical and philosophical approaches naturally play a major role in the courses the faculty offers, thus preparing students to employ critical questioning. This training is based on the rigour of methods and theories, encouraging students to think, relativise, situate, understand and define problems. Finally, this training pays particular attention to languages, in all their forms: in Philosophy and Letters, undoubtedly more than in any other area, we know that words are essential and that their meaning goes far beyond the written word. This ability to decode is also an incomparable instrument of global intelligence and freedom.

This is a school that gives an especial attention to languages, in all their forms : in Philosophy and Letters, certainly more than anywhere else, we know the importance of words and how they can mean much more than what they say. There is no doubt that this interpretation ability is a fantastic tool for awareness and freedom; it also touches upon democratic issues.
