A budget for a salary, a scientific experience abroad and for research
As we have seen, doing a doctorate is a long adventure, which comes after already 5 years of study. It is only natural that a young researcher tries to obtain a grant or salary for what is considered as a first research experience. The student should also take part in seminars, conferences, circulate partial results. The University actively encourages students to carry out a significant stay abroad. And the Research Unit that receives him/her must meet with all or a part of his/her functioning expenses.
In this, he/she is like any other researcher...
The University of Liege, with other funding organisations, has planned a whole series of measures (assignments, work abroad, internal functioning budgets) which enable the doctoral student to carry out his/her education in the best possible conditions, as it is officially bound to do by joining the European Researcher’s Charter.
Of course, not everything is possible and nothing is perfect, and as we know, funding research is clearly insufficient. However, there are some opportunities that doctoral students must appeal to, with the help of their directors, from the Research Administration or the Department of Grants and Heritage Foundations of the ULg
