On the way

The standard steps of a doctoral education are :

First year:

  • In agreement with the director and the Doctoral College, define a doctoral training programme
  • Contact the Doctoral College and find out who are the members of the (temporary) thesis committee and have it confirmed by the Faculty Council
  • At the end of the year, specify your research area to the College and confirm the thesis committee

Every year:

  • Continue the doctoral training until you have achieved the number of credits required
  • From the second year, present the thesis committee with a state of progress of the research at least once a year
  • Re-register at the registrations office, if the College authorises it on the basis of the thesis committee’s report
  • From the third year at the latest, present the research results in seminars and conferences
  • Search, publish and write...
