Enrolment and access

Before the first registration

Admission to the 3rd cycle studies is restricted to students with a master’s degree achieved after a 5-year education. However, students who have achieved a 2nd cycle graduation in 4 years before the application of the Bologna decree may be admitted, on the basis of an individual application

  • Read the regulations of the doctoral programme below and the special regulations of the doctoral colleges
  • Contact a lecturer or experienced researcher of the University and ask him/her to agree to supervise you. He/She will be your thesis director;
  • Depending on the research area, contact the secretary of the Doctoral College and give him/her the acceptation letter signed by the director, preferably before the beginning of the academic year, along with a preliminary research project. The College will then rule on your admissibility and decide whether or not to authorise the registration;
  • With the acceptance letter of the Doctoral College, go to the registrations office before 1st November at the latest, ask to register on the doctoral programme AND on the doctoral training, pay the registration fees and take the medical examination.

For students whose access qualifications were achieved in an institution which is not a member of the European Union or for students who do not come from the European Union, the set-up is slightly different:

  • Introduce an application form to the admissions department  (copy of previous qualifications, valid experience...), ideally by the end of April;
  • Depending on the research area, contact the secretary of the Doctoral College and give him/her the acceptation letter signed by the director, preferably before thebeginning of the academic year, along with a research project, a full curriculum vitae and the precise results of previous studies;
  • If the application is not considered as sufficient by the College, the student may register for the preparatory year set out by the Doctoral College, if it exists.
