INcoming placement and doctoral students
You are a student of a foreign university and are interested in doing a placement or research work at our university. Undergraduate and Ph.D students doing practical work at our institution are accorded the status of exchange students. As such, the Department of International Relations is entirely at their disposal. To be granted the status of exchange student, the undergraduate or Ph.D student must be registered as a regular student in a foreign university and intend to stay for a minimum of one-month, maximum one-year period in our institution in the context of a placement or research project.
Steps to take before you leave:
- Submit a detailed application (including curriculum vitae, date of placement, specialization) to a professor or researcher at ULg who is specialized in your field. You will find the names and contact details of all professors and researchers on the Faculty pages
- If you are accepted, contact Anne-Laure Villeminot to receive authorization to access the online registration form
- Complete, sign and send the printed registration form to Anne-Laure Villeminot, along with a letter from your home university attesting to your being registered there. The letter should be in French or in English.
- A letter of acceptance will be sent to you.
- Sign your placement agreement and also have it signed by your home university and your contact professor at ULg.
- Ensure that you have a valid passport and visa if required. (Contact the Belgian Embassy in your home country and be prepared to show them the letter of acceptance that will have been mailed to you.
- If you are a member of a European Union country, ask your health insurance organization for a european health insurance card. We strongly suggest that you consider taking out a comprehensive complementary policy.
- If you are staying in Liège for less than 6 months and wish to live in a university residence, mail the appropriate housing application form to Student Housing a minimum of 40 days before your arrival in Liège. Include a copy of your letter of acceptance.
- Consider asking for the assistance of a student sponsor from Liege.
If you wish to test or refresh your knowledge of French, take advantage of the online French classes organized by the French Department of the Institut des Langues Vivantes, and practice your grammar as well as written and listening comprehension.
Upon arriving in Liege
- Please drop into the office of the Department of International Relations as soon as possible to confirm your registration. You will receive your student card and your individual user name and pin code which give you access to the University Internet network. Under appointment.
- Meet your placement coordinator.
- Remember that you have to register with the City Administration. Consult the Administrative Procedures section .
- Attend the welcoming days held at the beginning of each academic year.
Before returning to your home university
- Certificates of departure must be picked up at the International Relations Office .
