The University of Liege is a partner in the creation of training programmes abroad, thereby contributing to the visibility of its centres of excellence (see strategic cooperation).

In partnership with the public bodies WBI (Wallonia-Brussels International) and FNRS (Scientific Research Fund), both under the aegis of the French-speaking Community of Belgium, it forms strong alliances with universities whose needs have been clearly identified, lending its expertise via the mobility of its professors and receiving in return the scientific contacts that nurture its growth.

The University of Liege has sought, then, to develop a network of partners outside Europe on the basis of shared interest, a network that is concentrated :

• either in a specific geographical area where ULg has numerous partners (e.g. Vietnam and Brazil)
  • or by finding a true synergy or shared characteristics with an institution where several faculties are developing training and research projects: these are strategic partners 

Finally, it manifests its world citizenship by being an active partner in cooperation development programmes devised in the French-speaking Community of Belgium.
