The University of Liege is committed to opening itself up to the world in terms of both its teaching and research missions. The Department of International Relations does its upmost to further the university's development in a global context. The objectives of its institutional policy in international matters are the following:
- To guarantee the quality of exchanges: ULg attaches the upmost importance to the excellence of its international partners, the organization of exchanges and to the mutual interests of partner universities. The University was awarded the European ECTS label in 2009 for a four-year period. It is one of the 22 European institutions singled out by the European Commission for the quality of the information, welcome and services provided exchange students (lien vers page label).
- Exchange opportunities for all, students and support staff, via diversified options adapted to individual projects and incorporating important exchange resources. Each year, ULg sends approximately 600 students abroad and welcomes as many incoming students from partner universities. Twenty-three percent of ULg graduates have done part of their coursework abroad, which places our university in line with European objectives. Moreover, 3300 foreign undergraduate and Ph.D students are registered at the University of Liege in different areas of study or research.
- At ULg, researchers find themselves in an environment particularly suited to their needs: the university indeed maintains very close contacts with networks of excellence and is involved in numerous research programs, thereby offering scientists the international context that is essential to them. In addition, the University of Liege also participates in international doctoral colleges in Chile, Brazil and the Greater Region.
- To develop international programs: The Department of International Relations supports the initiatives of faculties wishing to make their programs attractive to foreign students.
