The "UniCast" project, developed by the University of Liège since the beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year, consist in recording the courses and giving it back by the Internet.

This technology, progressively being implemented since the beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year, will be a great help to students, allowing them to listen or watch a class as many times as necessary.

This system will be entirely automated and integrated with student and class management software. The professor will directly monitor the tool using a simple interface.

Following his choice, the professor can record

  • his voice only,
  • his voice and a general view of the class,
  • his voice and his slides,
  • his voice, his slides and a general view of the class.

Once a class is over, the professor need only validate the recording which will automatically be processed for consultation in various formats. Students registered in the course can visualize the podcast via myULg  either

  • in high definition on a PC or Mac computer with H.264 streaming (Quicktime)
  • by downloading it on a MPEG4 player and consulting it while on the train for example
  • by downloading it on a MP3 player in audio format only.
