A high-level international science forum on new technologies will be held in Liège on September 19–21, 2012. Liège Expo 2017 has taken the opportunity to invite experts from 160 member states of the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions) to come and discuss the topic with international experts. Dozens of young people from all over the world are also invited to debate this forward-looking theme at a concurrent forum.
The subject chosen for Liège Expo 2017, "Connecting the World, linking People, better living Together" is ongoing. Liège Expo 2017 and the Youth Card are taking a participation-based approach to involving the Youth in this Forum, as potential visitors to the 2017 Expo.
Liège Expo 2017 and the Youth Card are therefore inviting 40 young Belgians to welcome young people from all over the world and participate in the "Connecting the World, linking Young People" forum. All young people aged 18 to 30 who live in Belgium can register to get a shot at being one of the forty young Belgians chosen to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This Youth Forum gives young participants a unique opportunity to meet young people from all over the world in a dress rehearsal for Liège Expo 2017. It will also bring these different people together and establish links between them. Furthermore, young people taking part in this event will enjoy a programme consisting of information, visits, intercultural meetings, intergenerational exchanges, workshops and visits to companies specialising in ICTs. They will also get the chance to discuss their concerns about Liège Expo 2017.
This event is also an opportunity to promote active citizenship at a global level, solidarity between young people, mutual understanding between young people from different countries and international cooperation in the field of new technologies and connectivity. This will also be a chance for the young people taking part to enrich their linguistic and human skills in a multicultural context.
