Definitions

The University of Liège has developed a policy of Intellectual Property management influenced by regional and federal policies, the European Commission and the intention to become a leading actor in the local technical and economical development.

This policy concerns inventions protectable through secret, patent, design and model, certified deposit, copyrights… in other words, scientific and technological inventions as well as software.

Through technology transfer, the objective of the University is to supply the companies with technologies secured regarding intellectual property, in order to allow their effective exploitation; in case of success, the University associates the researchers in the sharing of the financial comebacks.

General Organization

The University has set up several tools for the transfer of technologies, including :

  • The "Interface Entreprises-Université": a multidisciplinary team
  • Gesval : managing company for Intellectual Property and technology transfer
  • Spinventure : company providing seed capitals
  • Science Park Service : accommodation for companies
  • WSL, GIGA, Aquapôle : specialized incubators
  • SEED : projects preparation
