A direct return to research

The ULg has decided to use the federal state grant for research (around €9m) to support important research actions : an additional support is given to the libraries, to the "Reflexions" website, to research infrastructures, etc.

Programmes, managed by the Research Council, are planned for:

• reinforcing the existing programmes and in particular the actions of the Special Research Funds, rather than multiplying the research support instruments
• developing incoming and outgoing international mobility, a key for the visibility and efficiency of the institution at the international level
• making a special effort for the doctoral schools which are an essential element for both meeting with research objectives and 3^rd cycle education at the ULg

Thus in 2009, budgets lines were created for 

• reinforcing the research unit support
• starting grants for young academics or permanent researchers (ULg and FNRS)
• international post-doctoral fellowships for developing long-lasting and thriving research relations
• 4 year doctoral fellowships for young researchers, in Humanities ans Social Sciences
• grants for research mobility, especially encouraging stay of one year
• grants for scientific opportunities
• grants for joint initiatives withva real sharing of means
• Co-funding of research grants in the framework of the "START program" of the Wallooon Region
