The system of the French Community Juries in Belgium represents an alternative to exams enabling to obtain a diploma without following the traditional educational paths given in standard establishments.
These exams are therefore primarily meant for self-taught people and for those who have abandoned their courses and have decided to take them up again, and for those who can no longer enrol in the establishments because they have used up the number of tests authorised by the decrees or regulations.
These tests require a good personal preparation as the applicant is left to his/her own devices and must seek the documentation used as a basis for the exams, on his/her own.The organisation of the academic educational juries of the French Community and the way in which they work are decided by French Community Government decree of 8th July 2005.
These juries are only organised for grades from 1st and 2nd cycles, with the exception of the complementary master’s courses and teacher training. No jury is organised for 3rd cycle courses.
Only people able to prove the impossibility to follow the courses as a regular student have access to the jury system. The registration with the French Community jury does not grant the student with a regular student status. It does not enable to regularise a stay in Belgium.
Generally speaking, registering with the Jury does not enable the student to take part in the lectures, attend seminars or take part in the practical work.
The diplomas achieved through the jury have the same value as those delivered to regular students.
As well as the legal conditions for accessing university courses, you must be able to prove, in order to register with the French Community jury, the impossibility to follow the course as a regular student (medical certificate, employment contract, etc.).
A student, who during two academic years has been enrolled in a university institution or with a French Community jury, in the same course year of the same course, may only enrol or re-enrol with the jury after a period corresponding to 3 academic years.
Enrolling with the French Community jury is done by session (and not per academic year as for the regular students). Thus, in the case of failure in the 1st session, a student wishing to enrol in the 2nd session must take up a full new enrolment.
For the January/June session: from 1st October to 30th November.
For the September session: from 1st to 30th July.
€384 per session
