International networks

The University of Liege respects the European Bologna process and uses the ECTS course description system and marks transfer. It holds the extended “Education throughout life” charter that is essential for the quality of mobility that it includes in the students’ courses and in its staff’s careers.
The university builds up its projects within the bodies and networks in which it plays an active role.


In Belgium


In Belgium, at state level or at the level of the French Community of Belgium (relevant Belgian authorities in terms of higher education), the ULg takes part in all national and international actions carried out in liaison with the other Belgian universities.

A member of the CIUF (Inter-university Council of the French Community), it is especially involved in international files at the CIRI (Inter-university Commission of International Relations) and the CUD (University Development Commission).


In Europe

Located as it is near the borders of both Germany and Holland, ULg has built up strong interuniversity collaboration networks in the Meuse-Rhine Euregio (Alma), developing a common curriculum in neuroscience as well as cutting-edge scientific synergies. The Greater Region has also been a focus for concerted action with international partners.

Within this framework, it is a member of the University of the Greater Region (Interreg IV) and of the Greater Region's University Cooperation Charter.

ULg is also a member of the TIME network (double degrees in applied science) as well as of five European Erasmus Mundus consortia active in setting up innovative training programs.
Our institution is a member of the Santander group, which has signed a framework cooperation agreement with FAUBAI (Brazil). ULg has signed the Magna Charta, the ethical charter of the European University Association.

ULg is one of the 26 European universities to have been awarded the ECTS label by the European Commission for the quality of its management of mobility matters.

Throughout the world


On the international stage, the University of Liege is a member of the EUA (European University Association) and the AUF (University Agency for the French-speaking world) within which it leads a consortium and runs a course of study in management (Eastern Europe - Bulgaria).

ULg is also a partner in the LATINUS network which brings together 8 universities and 2 colleges from America and Europe. This network aims to promote and support the cultural diversity that characterizes the Latin world, focusing in particular on the spreading of Latin culture and the teaching of Latin languages through the concerted action of its members.

In terms of research, the University is a member of Euraxess Researchers in Motion and adheres to the European Charter for Researchers. Its research teams take part in numerous scientific consortia.
