| Frequently Asked QuestionsYou (will) have a diploma from an institution of higher education of the French-speaking Community of Belgium, and you want to engage in further study at the University of Liège. These are the questions most frequently asked of the Admissions Office. |
The website of the French-speaking Community can tell you about the possibilities for transition to a Master's programme that apply, depending on the diploma you already hold. A list of preparatory years of study that are suggested for holders of diplomas from institutions of higher learning is also available on this website. Certain Master's programmes are only accessible via transitions, "passerelles," of the automatic kind.
Even if the Master's programme you want does not show up on the list of "automatic" transitions for people who hold your diploma, it may still be possible to receive an individualised admission to first-cycle studies (to the second or third year of bachelor's level studies) and eventually to enter a Master's programme in that field.
Your professional experience in the field of study for the Master's you have chosen may earn you credit, and exempt you from the preparatory year; you will request an individualised admission on the basis of a personal file you submit.
If you can demonstrate that you have had at least 5 years of professional experience in a field of study, you may submit a file to the jury requesting admission to a particular Master's programme by way of credit for life experience (VAE).
If the transition you want is mentioned in the regulations, you may appear in person at the office of the Registration Service.
If it is not mentioned, you can get the request form for individualised admission can be obtained at the Admissions Office.
Unless your part-time diploma is recognised as equivalent, your request for admission must become part of an application file. Please contact us for more information.
In virtue of the law regarding equivalency of July 6, 2007, older academic titles that correspond to new titles are to be recognised in the same way, with respect to the right to take advantage of certain possibilities for transition to University Master's programmes.
